How to Get Traffic to Your Blog
Now that you have a blog and some traffic how are you going to keep the traffic, and make it work for you? This is where some people drop the ball, but not you. You are going to follow some of the following steps and optimize your traffic.
Use your e-mail. Today, blogging is overcoming the e-mails popularity in quickly and effectively reaching and expanding a market. In this age of speed and quick access, logging in and downloading e-mail is simply taking longer than clicking into a blog site. Let them explore your site by using a short e-mail message as teaser to your blog site. If your e-mail is on an entirely different subject, use your e-mail signature to give a link to the site.
Have people opt in. When you give something to your readers for free, as long as it is something they are interested in they will give you their email address. Once they have done this you have the opportunity to send them emails. You can send them more free material, like a course related to your subject, but you can also send them affiliate offers which will make you some money.
Use a poll. Understanding what your readers want is a big deal. If you are offering things your readers don’t care about you will lose traffic. If however, you ask them what they want and then provide it for you, they will love you for it. They will also tell other people about it, which will give you some good links which means more traffic.
Are you in the network? The blog network that is. If you aren’t you really should be. Joining a group of bloggers blogging in the same niche helps you keep up to date with what’s going on. It also helps you build relationships with other bloggers which can lead to link swaps as well as recommendations on other blogs. This will build your authority in your niche as well as lead to more traffic.
RSS is king. Although it is pretty new, RSS is an up and coming technology. You should be using it to the fullest. Make sure your RSS feed is clearly displayed on your site. You can get RSS buttons in many places. Your readers can then subscribe to your feed, and you know all your posts are going right to them. You can also use your RSS feed to build links by submitting to RSS directories. These links will build each time you post which is great.
Whether you are blogging for fun or money the reader is still an integral part of the equation. If you fail to add him in you will end up losing. You can keep your readers involved in your blog by using any or all of the techniques mentioned in this article. If you do you will find you have happy readers, spreading the word about your blog, and more and more traffic heading your way.
