Keyword Optimization Tactics - Avoiding Amateur Mistakes
Keyword optimization is something that a lot of website masters abuse. Optimizing a website for a specific keyword phrase is not about placing it all over the article without a single thought put in. To truly make the most out of a single domain name, one must carefully use their chosen keyword phrases to keep things easy to read and well-liked by the big search engines.
An internet marketer setting up their website to have a keyword density that composes 10% of the article or more is not uncommon. Unfortunately, many of these people never see much profit. It is quite simply impossible to really profit with a website that’s density is a bit too high. If you’re absolutely new to search engine marketing and keyword optimization in general, you may be asking why. The more the better is the usual way things go. Absolutely not. Things should be done in moderation always.
Say you create a website based on a niche keyword. First you must register a domain name with the keyword within it, what’s next? Article(s), tags, titles, and layouts are the next step. So, you write a 400 word article on the subject with the keyword placed within it at least 7 times. That alone is at least 1.7% density, which is not that bad, actually. Next up is the rest of the page that the article is on. This should include tags like meta and other tags, as well as the titles or other titles. If you only have 50 other words in total on that page aside from the article and an additional 10 instances of the keyword, then your density is at the very least around 3.7%. This is territory is quite uncomfortable.
A rule of thumb if you are not into multiplying and dividing to find the keyword is to see what sounds natural. For instance, does it seem normal if the keyword appears twice within a few sentences in the same paragraph? Probably not. So be careful with the use of keyword optimization on your end.
Why is it so important to pay close attention to the optimization of your website? For one, visitors are less likely to actually take your content seriously. You’ve likely run into a website that is stuffed before and just left. Your site visitors will do just the same. The second reason is actually much larger: search engines will penalize you for jamming the keyword phrase in there to often. They will either kick your website down in rankings or ban it all together, both of which may very well be the blow to end your campaign.
Keyword optimization is not that hard, but it can be a bit easy to get too carried away. It is so much easier to create low quality content with the keyword all over it, but think about it: if you truly want to make money, shouldn’t you have to put at least a bit of effort into it?
